Once the wood has been band-sawn to rough dimensions, the first step is to “joint” the center seam of the book-matched halves of the top and the back so they fit together perfectly (no light shows when holding them up to the light), then to glue these center seams of both the top and back. Once the glue is dry, the back, sides and top are sanded to the desired thickness on a thickness sander (the operation is dusty, and I don’t have any photos!). 307 S.
